The STRAW-TREASURY in Zengővárkony (straw collection) is unique in Hungary among the collections in the history of culture. The village is 15 kilometers from Pécs. It is a beautiful area; the biggest sweet chestnut park is situated here. The Lajos Fülep Memorial Room is in Zengővárkony besides the folk country hose, a weaving shop, The Arts on Eggs Museum collection opened in the year of the Millennium, and the exhibition of János Berta wood carver.

The small village in the Mecsek presents the straw collection from March 2002. The material of the exhibition from 15 countries of the world makes up almost 400 hundred pieces. It is a result of the work of a decade of Tünde Tüskés.

The STRAW-TREASURY is presented among ideal circumstances in one of the houses in the village. The exhibition organized fulfilling scientific requires presents the variability of the objects made of straw. It summarizes all the processes by which we can make tools and decorations of straw. We also present the tools and equipments used at the processes. Besides presenting the traditions of straw spinning, the exhibition provides space for modern expressions by which it strives to open a window for the future.

The museum holds workshops and provides space for camps at summertime. The visitors may obtain books, postcards, and straw objects as well.

The STRAW-TREASURY was realized by the mutual efforts of the community of the village and a private person.
