The collection of almost 400 pieces from all over the world is the basis of this unique collection, which mirror the close relationship of trade and art, tradition and modernism. Traditions of straw spinning were alive in numerous countries for centuries. We wish to present these and the modern artistic expressions of straw works as well. Among the displayed objects many are unique.
Harvest wreath - Ildikó Csáki
The exhibition presents the variability of the objects that can be made of straw. It summarizes all the processes by which we can make tools and decorations of straw. We also present the tools and equipments used at the processes. The basis of the thematic collection and the objects displayed is the straw. Besides the objects made of straw in Hungary we may find several objects made in Mexico, Switzerland, Japan, Holland, England, Australia, and the USA. The section presenting the history of straw spinning and the centers directs the attention to values, which we do not always perceive because of the simplicity of the material.

The collection which was supported by Freiamter Strohmuseum (Switzerland), the Luton Museum (England), and the Museum of American Straw Art of California, has numerous interesting information not only for the visitors but also the researchers. The tourists of the village may find a real aesthetic experience.
