Salla, the Roman settlement, is situated near the center of the town Zalalövő. Salla and Zala county was named after the Illyr-Celtic name of the rivers Salla or Salle. Salla was declared town by Hadrianus in 118 and became the center of the region.
The archeological works at the region have begun in 1973 and are still on. The permanent exhibition of the Göcsei Museum is titled 'Zala County in the Roman Age'.
In the yard belonging to the building, there are buildings built in the 2nd century, as well as a Roman building from the 4th century and bases of a so-called villa publica.
