The Archdiocesan Library of Eger is one of the most valuable historical and the only public ecclesiastic library. It was founded by bishop Károly Eszterházy Károly for the use of the university of Eger to be established. He meant to create a scientific workshop which would faithfully reflect the knowledge of its age and would give assistance in the field of education. As a result of this, he purchased the books from all over Europe with great circumspection. continue
