The Hegyvidéki Local History Collection and Gallery aims at providing programs for those who are interested in the history and arts of the12th district of Budapest.
The conditions are perfect since the institution is made up of three units: the Budapest Hegyvidék Local History Collection (1126. Bp. Beethoven Street 1/b.), the Hegyvidék Gallery (1122. Bp. Városmajor Street 16.) and the exhibition ward of the Barabás Mansion. The three independent wards make it possible to separate fine arts and historic exhibitions.
The Local History Collection was founded in 1973. Ever since then, its collection of documents and objects is continuously enlarged. The material is revealed at temporary exhibitions showing periods of the life of the district.
The library of the Local History is open for the researchers, students writing their thesis .The clock of the Óra Mansion from the 19th century is also part of the collection as well as the documents of the family of the Counts Semsey.
The Hegyvidék Gallery opens a new fine or applied art exhibition in connection with the 12th district every 4-6 weeks. Artists from the district may show their works in the 120-m2 large exhibition ward. The Gallery is open Tue-Sat at 10-18. The entrance is free for everyone. We may also open the exhibition for groups of students on prior notice.
On the territory of the just renovated Barabás Mansion, we provide several interesting programs for children and adults as well. The Barabás Miklós exhibition in the main building and the beautiful garden make the atmosphere more pleasant.
The Hegyvidéki Local History Collection wishes to provide information of the life of the 12th district for all ages, from children to senior citizens.
