The protected environment Pusztaszer Landscape Protection Area belonging to the National Park of Kiskunság has the richest sodic bleak.

The Lake Fehér around Szeged, the oldest protected environment of Hungary, was first mentioned in a charter in 1075. The River Tisza regularly flooded the region even at the beginning of the 19th century. After the regulation of the river, the water supply of the lake was also ceased.

Around the turn of the century Lakatos Károly, a hunter of Csongrád County familiar with zoology, published articles on the region. The MD Dr. Beretzk Péter began researches in the 1930's. Based on his suggestion, part of the lake received protection in 1936. In 1939, it was raised among protected areas of national interest.

At the same time, the lake was converted into a fishing lake. In favor of safe supply of water, a 9-meter long channel was built between the Tisza and the lakes. The Lake Fehér received its present form in 1961. After new fishing lakes were formed, the system of lakes came to existence.

The valuable places begin with a cemetery, graves from around 2000 BC in Szatymaz.

The significance of the world of birds is shown by the fact that 280 of the 370 birds species familiar in Hungary can be found in the area. It is because it is not only a nesting place but also an important station of the passage of birds when cranes, wild geese etc can be observed.

The road E5 connecting Szeged with Budapest is west of Szeged. The Demonstration House of the National Park of Kiskunság can be found at the 157 km stone. The house presents the values of the lower Tisza region.

The National Park of Kiskunság bought the house in 2001 objecting at providing a starting point for the visitors interested in the region. The exhibition opened on the international day of environment protection in 2004 is accompanied with a study path and tours.

The region under the protection of the Ramsary Treaty is unusually protected; it can only be visited with professionals or with leave.
