Martial helmet, vase, crown, and cotton ball - these are objects we use day by day. But what we show are every day used objects made of eggs. Gabriella Szutor has been making curiosities like these for over fifteen years. Now a showing of them opens at the Kass Gallery in Szeged.
At the beginning, Gabriella Szutor, painted eggs with traditional methods. Fifteen years ago, though, she switched to a special ornamenting method. He uses eggs for making works of art, but in a special way. She has tried various kinds of eggs, but she prefers using goose egg. She feels that it is the best to work with. The hardest thing is to make the design. It also takes the longest. The actual work with the egg only takes about two weeks.
Gabriella Szutor’s individual egg works of art have travelled the world, were shown at a number of exhibitions, with success. The showing at the Kass Gallery presents the oeuvre of the artist, including every era, from the antique related eggs to modern pieces. So the visitors can see the beautiful Chinese vase, the Papal Hats, martial helmets, cottonballs or even coins made of eggs. There are also special non-figurative pieces on display.
Gabriella Szutor believes that the best thing about egg shells is that they are the perfect material for expressing her ideas. The most beautiful thing about egg shells is that they can take a lot more than anyone would believe. This is why an artist cannot stop experimenting with them.
