Our exhibition intends to show contemporary the spatial and time boundaries of numismatics respecting the principal thesis of Ferenczy Béni about his life he sometimes denied or modified pro and contra via the objects shown.
The development and changes in numismatics is presented based on double approach of fine art: spatial system and concepts.
The ward is separated into two halves which makes a whole circle when the two types of approaches are integrated. Separated into periods and artists, we sometimes emphasize the artistic value, other times the historic relations. For centuries, goldsmiths and medal makers made coins in Pécs in mints. From the 20th century, mainly sculptors make coins.
The thematic groups of the historic part are coins from mints (the works from the successor of the mint of Körmöcbánya, the Hungarian Mint Association 2005-2006) medals from the School Museum, the works of olden masters via treasures found in the ground, by archeologists and photos.
Contemporary artists are
- Gáti Gábor
- Lieb Roland Ferenc
- Szöllőssy Enikő
- Szlávics László Jr.
- Szunyogh László
