The exhibited craft works - a request from the Castle Garden Bazaar - were selected by Technical Committee and curators for NESZ by artist members of the association counting over four thousand members. The exhibited pieces well-represent the technical and conceptual diversity of the movement, which combines serious professional skills and in-depth knowledge combining traditional folk styles, techniques and motifs with experimental attitude of those striving to find their individual style.

Respect for tradition, knowledge and renewal: the key words that aptly describe the contemporary Hungarian arts and crafts movement, the national umbrella organization of which is the Association of Folk Art. The intensity and harmony of items on exhibit draws attention to the timeless aesthetics of traditional world of objects. The works reveal the time spent on labour, their ancestors' knowledge of the heritage and natural sense of beauty, and also the creative vision of the individual artist renewing traditional forms as well.
