The Franciscan Monastery in Alsóváros is the second, after Pannonhalma, largest medieval church building complex, which operates to this day according to its original function. The visitor centre created within the walls of the monastery presents in an interactive way monastic life and the bases of Franciscan spirituality.

Under an hour and a half-walk, in the framework of a guided tour, the visitors can see the herb garden, where they can learn about the Franciscan monks healing activities, the monastery central courtyard - the qudrum, monastic dining hall- the refectory of the church, the vestry, and a 11-hall exhibition, where 15th century art treasures can be admired such as the vestment made from King Matthias' mantle or Marchia St. James's chair, which is the oldest extant seat in our country.
