Paintings by Vilmos Aba-Novák are on display at the exhibition co-organized by the Kass Art Gallery of Szeged and the REÖK. The visitors will find paintings and graphic designs as well as sketches he did to the Demetrius Tower.

Vilmos Aba-Novák is moving among the walls of two important cultural institutions in Szeged for the Night of the Museums: the Kass Art Gallery and the REÖK present nearly fifty works of art by Aba-Novák.

The gallery shows a selection of the Aba Novák paintings from his oeuvre, from his most significant eras and themes. The exhibition by REÖK focuses on Aba Novák's wall hangings: In addition drafts related to Szeged's oldest architectural landmark, the Demetrius Tower will be shown, as well as some of his drafts of the Heroes' Gate and also some graphic works.

Vilmos Aba-Novák is one of the most original, the most controversial figures of modern painting. His favourite theme was that of markets and the world of the circus. In 1937 he won the Grand Prize of the Paris Expo, in 1940 the Grand Prize of the Venice Biennial. In Szeged, the Hero's Gate and the Demetrius Tower are associated with him.
