Over the past 15 years, The Katona József Museum of Fine Arts Collection (Kecskemét Gallery) had its main activity and the scope of collection was in the spirit of Christianity. In 2000, for the first time the exhibition 1000 Years - Hungarian Saints, then in 2002 the 1st Contemporary Christian Iconography Biennial was organized. For the first time we chose the scene of crucifixion and the most important symbol of the cross. In the spring of 2005, we chose the pivotal part of Genesis, the first 11 chapters from The Book of Creation. The theme of third biennial in 2006 was that of the altar. The theme of fourth biennial was Christ's Parables that of the fifth was the Apocalypse, the Book of Revelation. In the spring of 2013 the angels were the protagonists, while in 2015, at the seventh biennial it was children ("Child of God" - "We are children of God") these were the images to be portrayed.

Meanwhile, relying on the biennials - primarily through a donations - we managed to put together a special collection, counting more than 300 pieces. From this unique collection in Hungary, we have shown several items in various places of the best contemporary Christian-themed works of art from Hungary.

At one of the most visited sites of Hungary, the St. Stephen's Basilica this time hosts 85 works by 80 artists. The invitation was mainly due to the painter Norbert Bukta, the artist who designed the Knights hall and who has had exhibitions there since 2010. In the absence of finances, our main method of persuasions is the 'spontaneous' convincing of artists to donate gifts to the museum, which can further improve in the framework of work of art project announced by the National Cultural Fund .
