The Szolnok Art Colony's historical and contemporary art collection will be shown on several occasions exhibitions in Hungary and abroad, perpetuating the city's reputation while providing opportunity to set up active cultural relations.

The chairman of the Szolnok Art Association coordinating the colony is the sculptor Gábor Benő Pogány, the art director defining exhibitions the characteristics of the exhibitions is the painter György Verebes. The doyen of the colony who has been living there since 1958 is the painter Magdolna Fazekas. Further artists in 2015 at the Szolnok Art Colony: Fábián Baráth, László Hangay Szabó, the sculptors Norbert Révi and György Szabó, as well as the painters György Király, Georgius Soosur and Ákos Szente-Szabó. The sculptor Ferenc Simon died in January this year, however, when discussing the current state of the art community in 2015 we should mention his name any event.

Although initially at the Szolnok Art Colony he was often levelled - compared to Nagybánya - by being second or third in line, his viability helped refute these assumptions. Nothing proves the functionality of the art group more than the fact that Szolnok Art Colony, despite the storms of history has maintained high quality work. Today the artists working at the colony are still dominant personalities of the city of Szolnok, as were the artists once. While other former artist colony were short-lived, their ideals did not survive the historical, political changes, their unifying efforts often made their artists leave the group, the Szolnok Artist Colony is still working as an active and constructive group, providing artistic freedom to the artists and lets various trends coexist.
