The exhibition is to open the occasion of the publication of the catalogue that is engaged in Emil Torday's Congolese collection (1875-1931), supported by Richard de Unger. After many years of service in Congo, Emil Torday - returned to the country in the period between 1907 and 1909 on research and recovery expeditions, visiting people and places, where no man had been before from Europe. That journey, as well as his promotions works made him the most acclaimed Hungarian-born Africa rehearser.

The exhibition presents hundred of over 450 objects in the catalogue. The most diverse collection of objects will be on display, including weapons of musical instruments, baskets, amulets, clothing and also elaborate carved palm wine caps. The last exhibition on the topic at the Museum of Ethnography was the memorial exhibition of the Congo expedition, that virtually returned to the Congo on the same passage. This time, however, original items collected by Emil Torday are also to be seen.
