A special exhibition entitled 'Magical Feathers' is opening at the Museum of Ethnography presenting items from the legendary Hungarian researcher of Indian culture, Dr. Lajos Boglár from his Amazonian collection. Most of the items were made of feathers of exotic Amazonian birds.
The items exhibited evaluate as independent works of art. Their beauty and elaborateness rivals those of arts and crafts works. Lajos Boglár was attached to the majority of them to the end of his life. HIn addition to items displayed in showcases home interiors will also be presented in the exhibition.
After the death of Lajos Boglár in 2004, ethnographic collection, object from the Amazonian Indians remained owned by the family. However, they were able to ensure proper preservation of these tems with increasing difficulty. The family offered the legacy for the Museum of Ethnography few years ago, however it did not have the money to purchase the collection. Therefore the Symbiosis Cultural Anthropology Foundation Lajos managed by Boglár's friends and his disciples launched online fundraising campaign named"Adopt an Object ". 45 individual and 3 institutional support in total helped purchase the 70 objects
