The Hungarian National Theatre History Museum and Institute set up a travelling exhibition to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the death of the artist-politician count Miklós Bánffy.

'Nobody is in a hurry, at least I have no information on large scale preparations to pay off the moral debts that we own to the novelist, painter, graphic artist, book illustrator, caricaturist, costume designer, theatre director, politician, diplomat, ... the illustrious farmer, the ecclesiastic person (...) and as I call him to myself, the Prosperor of Bonchida.' - says Ildikó Marosi, who worked in many projects related to the work of Miklós Bánffy, in 1996, Kis/Bán /Ffy

However, a few steps have been taken to the reparations. The printing company 'Polis' managed by Gyula Dávid endeavoured to publish Miklós Bánffy's complete oeuvre. The Pallas Academy of Csíkszereda, along the Nap Printing Company also decided to publish works by Miklós Bánffy. A memorial tablet was placed on the wall of the house Miklós Bánffy last resided in Revicky Street in 1993. On the 60 anniversary of his death, on 5 June 2010 The Szeged Open Air Festival, Opera Fans of Szeged Association and the Gál Ferenc Theological Collage held a Bánffy Memorial Session. Following the session, a Bánffy Miklós bust (by Stróbl Alajos) was placed in the International History Pantheon in Dóm Square. The Magyar Szemle saluted Bánffy Miklós with an extra memorial edition. The Opera House named him Life Member posthumously in September the same year. The Hungarian National Theatre History Museum and Institute joined the commemorating programme series in 2010. They opened a travelling exhibition on 11 November.

The main goal of the exhibition is to introduce the audience to theatre related works of Miklós Bánffy, as well as some new research results. The main interest of the institute is to show the complex oeuvre of Miklós Bánffy to the audience and profession. The exhibition is held in several rooms of the OSZMI. The book illustrator artist is, for example, dealt with in one room. There are also caricatures Bánffy drew at the Peace Conference on Geneva in 1921 on display.

The exhibition also contains the bronze statue by Alajos Stróbl and a painting by Gyula Glattner located in the National Museum. One of the interesting items is the reconstruction of the costume for the Magic Flute.

The institutes that joined forces for the (Sepsiszentgyörgy Székely National Museum, EMKE-Kolozsvári Györkös Mányi Memorial House, Tiszántúl Calvinist Diocese and Collage Library of Debrecen) have considerable past in organizing exhibitions, thus we can expect an travelling showing series both in Hungary and Transylvania.

At OSZMI several books, Periodicals are on sale, in addition to a round-table discussion and museum pedagogical programmes that are awaiting the visitors.
