The objective of the organizers of the exhibition, the Hungarian Jewish Museum and the First Carpet Company of Pest, is to revive the world famous carpet culture in Hungary before 1945 and acquaint the public with carpets as artefacts.
The location of the showing is the Hungarian Jewish Museum presenting outstanding pieces of Jewish textiles.
With the exhibition, the organizers' intention is to show carpets from the most important carpet producing regions. Despite of popular belief, not only Islam is famous of carpet production, but also the Christian Armenian carpets that are at least two-thousand years old. Tibetans and Chinese people also own a characteristic carpet culture. It may be surprising, but the Navajos in Arizona also weave carpets.
