The guard of the Káli Basin is Hegyestű situated 337 m high between Zánka and Monoszló.
The north part of the hill that looks like a cone from the Lake Balaton was removed by the stone mine once operating there. The remaining almost 50-meter-high wall, however, uncovers the inside of the basalt volcano that was in operation 5-6 million years ago.
The congealed lava separated into polygonal poles. The view is a unique one in Hungary, but also in Europe.
The Káli Basin offers several beautiful panoramas, but the most beautiful of them is probably the one in Hegyestű.
The view from these include the Lake Balaróton, the Hills of Fonyód, Badacsony, Gulács, the Hills of Keszhely. Csobánc, the Black Hill, the Boncsos Peak, but the Tátika can also be seen. The rebuilt mining buildings hold exhibitions about the geography of the National Park, its natural values and the memoirs of basalt mining.
