Ábrahám Ganz founded his foundry in 1844 in Buda. The small plant turned to be a well-known engineering company in his lifetime. The price of the location of the factory rose after the war and on account of the development of the district and so the idea occurred that the factory should be moved.

In WWII, half of the buildings and the engines were destroyed. Though most of them were rebuilt in the 1990's the question of environmental protection rose and the thought of relocating the factory occurred again. It was only realized in the middle of 2000.

A governmental decision declared that the area was to be used for the center of the program series crated for the Millennia. After the event the buildings were used for cultural purposes, the environment was transformed into a park.

The main idea behind rebuilding the old Ganz Plant was to create an environment in which the buildings are positioned in a modern way. The hardest task of the 'conception creation' was to decide which building was to be saved and which was to be destroyed after the event. The 'high building' was deconstructed according to the plans of 'conception creation'. The building named 'B' took on the name Large Hall, the building named 'D' was partly taken down. In between them, a new entrance was built. A garage was constructed under them, which is now the largest exhibition hall of the country.

The service hall also kept functions as a theatre with 600 seats. Concerts and different performances are held there. The reception-building opening from Fény Street is apt for programs and different professional organizations.

The rehabilitation of the Ganz area the Millenáris Park, received the 'Nívó Prize of Architecture of Budapest' in 2001.

The first bigger program of the Park was the temporary exhibition titled 'Dreamers of Dreams-Sensational Hungarians' which opened on 17, December, 2001. More than 600 000 people saw the most important personae of the Hungarian science and their most valuable objects. The organizers have another large exhibition on their minds. They would like to deal with our vision of the future. In the meantime, large scales of programs await the visitors.

The Inn is the location of our programs for children on Saturdays and Sundays. There are also pop concerts, smaller exhibitions, screenings held in the Inn. The Theatre is the location of concerts, scientific lectures, and conferences. At summertime, the park is an excellent location for open-air performances. The bell over the stage plays in every two hours after 10. The children can have interactive fun on the playground named 'Zöld Péter' while the adults can visit the 'CsatlakozÓra' (Join(t)hour) erected in 2002 which counts the time until the time of our joining the EU.

The park was one of the most pleasant cultural locations of Budapest. The aim of the employers is to play this same role for a long time.
