The Roman stone store was first opened its gate before the visitors in the cellar of the Fabricius house in 1962. It was renovated in 1994. Since the medievals the house had been owned by oppulent patricians. Its gained its current form in the 18th century.
Stone relics originating from Scarbantia (today Sopron) and its region are exhibited in the stone store. The medieval cellar covers the ruins of Roman buildings. Its Northern wall was built upon the inner town wall of the middle ages. The large hall involves the cellar and the ground floor of the building. The splendid space provides a worthy environment for the statues of the sevel-metre-high sanctuary of Capitol.
The smaller cellar was built in the 17th century. The wall niches contain the stones in a sanctuary like manner.
Visitors entering the main room will be welcomed by the amazing marble statues of the the gods of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva. Their sanctuary had been standing in the square of Scarbantia. The altar stones also tell of the worship rendered to the gods. The biggest class of the stone relics is that of the grave stones. The most beautiful of these is the one of centurian Caius Sextilius Senecio: it is a richly ornamented demanding work made of marble.
Sepulchar urns and sarchofagus are placed at the rear end of the room.
