Bakonybél is in the heart of the High-Bakony at a Protected Environment at the Kőris Mounain. It is 17 kms from Zirc to the North-West. At the area of the Environment, from the ancient traces to the legends of the outlaws, the traditions of the lives and occupations in the villages to the wonderful life of the forests numerous values can be observed by the visitors. The National Park of the Balaton Upper Area Management organized an exhibition hall named the 'House of the Bakony Woodlands' in this picturesque village. It was inaugurated on 3rd, October, 1997.

The exhibition was held in the old economic building of the Abbey of Zirc. The forestry and environment protection collection was held in the old barn.

The exhibition on the ground floor introduces the history of the settlement, its main stones, minerals, and interesting geological events. We may learn of the work of the architect working with the values of nature, his mapping tools etc. In the ward on the second floor we may peep into the deeds of the woodsmen, hunter, and the wood carvers. The corner was organized in memory of the architect tuition at Selmecbánya. We may see the wild animals of the Bakony area by way of diorama.

The ward on the second floor holds temporary exhibitions and lectures.
Permanent exhibitions
The exhibition upstairs introduces the work of forest men, hunters and woodcarvers. The visitors can see via diorama wild animals of the Bakony and wild life in Bakonyerdő by the painter Danai Pál. continue
