The Eminent Artist Piroska Szántó (Kiskunfélegyháza, 1913 - Budapest, 1998) who received the Munkácsy- and the Kossuth Prizes decided before her death to inherit most of her works to the Szombathely Gallery. The gallery took on the task of the maintenance of the works.
The purpose of the artist was to have her flat, where she lived with her husband the poet István Vas, converted into a memorial museum and have the Gallery of Szombathely as the maintainer of the heritage.
The permanent exhibition selects of the life work of Piroska Szántó. Inside the walls of the museum, several literal and musical meetings take place to show the connection of the art of Piroska Szántó with these genres of art.
