Mesztegnyő is a village with a population of 1500, 25 kilometers from the Lake Balaton. It is a beautiful village with excellent natural environment, more than half of its outskirts are forest. Fishing lakes were created on the streams at the turn of the century. The village belongs to the "Boronka" landscape-protection area since 1993. Most of the tourists visit the area for its wonderful values of nature: trees, birds, plants etc.

Mesztegnyő is situated along the road number 68. It is a well-arranged settlement with a church. A Franciscan monastery and a convent that functions as a school are located next to it. The frescos of István Dorfmeister and the Hunyadi crypt under the church make it even more interesting.

The Village House is located opposite to the church, which used to be a school in the 18th century. The Village House is the location of collections of local history, ethnography, and folk art. Artisan workshops, a play house, and presentations of folk-dance and children's play are frequently held in the house as well.

A forest school that opened in March, camps of traditional preserving, and camps of the hikers function there from July. We accept student from Hungary and abroad in a 5-8 day schedule. Several artisan trades like pottery, woodcarving, doll making etc can be learned in our camp.
