In the west corner of Lake Balaton, on the woody hillside rising above the lake there can be found the hunter-fortress of counts Festetics. The building having star ground-plan is unique all over the world.
In the central room of the covered fortress there can be found a well (its depth is 30 m), rooms of captain, guard, rest and smoky kitchen etc. Here a life-waxworks from Middle Ages is arranged which is a real show of a day of past (village priest and fortress captain are arguing, gallants are having a rich meal, soldiers in guard, village smith is pulling tooth, brisk women in the kitchen etc.).
In the cellar system which has greekcross ground-plan there can be seen a hussar museum being unique all round the world. From our past as many as 150 hussars (their height is 80 cm) give us a picture of the ornamental costume of our light cavalry; but we can see hun-hungarian fighters and aristocrats from Middle Ages in chronological order.
The row is closed by the soldiers of II. World War. Since 2006 an art creative-camp is going to open its gates in a fenced, almost one and a half hectare area. A wayside inn, altered of the old stable of the count waits its guests, the openair theatre in preparation gives place to the program series called "Evenings in Starfortress".
