Village Museum - Verseg
The museum building
Address: 2174, Verseg Fő utca 15.
Opening hours: Tue-Sun 7-18
This Roman Catholic Hungarian village does not belong to the Galga valley, but local people and their activities were closely connected to this region for centuries. The collecting of objects representing the traditional folk culture was Initiated by the well-known personality of the village, Mrs. Pál Marton (maid-en name: Erzsébet Homok) who became famous for her books describing folk life. There were no buildings suitable for a museum in the village, so the Village Museum was opened in 1974 in a peasant house reconstructed by museum specialist with the financial support of Pest County Council.

The exhibition focuses on the relics of the traditional home culture, cooking, hemp craft and costumes. In a separate building of the estate we can see the documents, personal relics of Mrs. Marton, the folk writer.
