The Kossuth Museum is one of the affiliates of the Pest County Museum Directory. The institute was established following the initiation of citizens of Cegléd in 1917, with the objective of collecting memories of the war that was going on those times. Artifacts owned by the son of Lajos Kossuth, Ferenc Kossuth are also part of the Collection.

The exhibition first opened in one of the nice buildings in Kossuth Square, on the second floor of the 'Hitelbank' in 1924. After the war the collection was severely damaged, but was reassembled and displayed again in another building in Gobudy Street in 1948.

The collection was moved to its present location in 1956, where its real museum function was fulfilled. The ethnography, numismatics, fine art and library collections are amended by an archive about the history of the museum. The collecting region is the town of Cegléd and the old administrative region that belonged to the town.

The temporary exhibitions are about local history, e.g. the permanent exhibition called I am a Mirror... presents the life and work of outstanding historic personae in Hungary.
