The Lajos Abonyi Village museum of Abony was founded in 1959. Eight years passed by the time the Mayor's office could provide a building for the collection, which was first presented on 18, November, 1967. Our aim was to show the tools of the trades along with the tools of the farming of the homesteads that are continuously dying out. We wished to honor over half a thousand beautiful homesteads and the assiduity of the families living there.

The reconstruction of the granary built by the Csák clan took almost two years. The exhibition opened in 1983.

One of the interiors presents the equipment of harvest, threshing, granary cleaning, and the corn dollies; the other interior shows the tools of animal husbandry and viniculture. On the upstairs in one part the details of yards of shoemakers, websters, their tools and objects; in the other part the furniture of the kitchen-room corner, the tools of food preservation and diary can be seen.

In the shed of the farmyard vehicles, ploughs, harrows, sowing-machines, and other tools of farming are shown. A forge and a smelter are also displayed along with the fire engine of the old Voluntary Fire Brigade. The dovecot and two fireplaces for students on an excursion are placed here.

At noon, the bell of the Baron of Harkány can be clashed. We invite the visitors to see all these and the brick store on the area of the Brick Factory. If you come, you can also hear the sound of the bells of the towers of Nagyabony.
