The institute founded in 1951 has by now developed into a significant region museum. Selecting from its versatile collection it provides a permanent exhibition on the purpose of showing all those natural and cultural values that were present in the regain throughout the past centuries.
Next to this town there is Ecsegpuszta with its native flora and fauna. The unique Kun-piles of the Trans -Tiszanian region are mementoes of human history. This is proven by the great variety of fnds from the bronze age and the middle ages.
Beyond the tiny links of the 1000 years of Hungarian history there are families, institutes, and the works of excellent teachers, priests and artists. The intellects of the Calvinist town, strengthened by West-European studies, wisely directed this settlement that developed into a market-town.
Though the peasants of the town had a very strong connection to their culture and traditions, they also accepted the economical innovations and cultural influences coming from abroad. At the turn of the century (19-20) the town joined in with the national railway and highway system. The local press released books and periodicals, the new town hall and a school were built.
The town gave home to famous artists as Sándor Korda (films) and Sándor Finta and Gergely Finta (sculptors). Their works can be seen at the permanent exhibition of the Finta Museum.
Besides the materials exhibited in nine rooms, visitors can learn more about our collection, the town and the Nagykunság through computers and video players as well. Having tried out the facilities offered, museum lovers tend to come back to us every so often.
Apart from the permanent exhibitions a great variety of temporal exhibitions and museum programmes give warm welcome to our visitors in the Vadász Pál Exhibition Hall.
