One of the most beautiful valleys of Hungary's high mountains, the picturesque Szalajka Valley, is set in the area of the "Mátra and Western Bükk Forestry and Wood-works Co." Hundreds of thousands of foreign and domestic tourists visit this resort every year looking for relaxation, leisure and fun.

The provision of these forests began here in the area of our sylviculture at the end of the sixties. These efforts were made to make our visitors' stay and repose sophisticated and to give them possibilities of useful free time activities and also to inform them about the culture of our forestry.

There were two purposes founding the Forestry Museum here, one is to collect, save and exhibit the old hand-tools, written and material remains of forestry for the future, the other is to give a thorough insight to the visitors of the multifold forestry activities grouping them into different branches.
