Miklós Káplár is the painter of the true visage of the Hortobágy. He continued his studies in the Academy of Fine Arts and with the help of József Rippl-Rónai. His performances were arranged in the National Salon and in the exhibition hall of the "natural genii", and he also had three exhibition in the Déri Museum in Debrecen. Since 1930 he was the member of the section of fine arts of the progressive Ady Society in Debrecen.

In the Miklós Káplár Museum besides an early self-portrait and shepherds' portraits, the best works of the 1930's, that is his low-horizoned plain-landscapes are the most outstanding pieces of the exhibition.
