The middle ages prebendal room taken from the old Benedictine monastic quarters are located in the Saint Benedict Home for the Elderly.

It is not a museum, neither an exhibition ward but a rare monument from the middle ages. Thus, the management had to take care of securing the tranquility of the elderly. The door of the monastery opens at 10, 11, 14, 15 and 16 every day and the visitors may visit with the help of a guide.

Booklets in 8-10 languages also help the orientation. We do not ask for an entrance ticket, but we placed a moneybox out so if the visitors feel like, they can donate.

The room with poles, carved stones and frescoes from the middle ages, was built in the 13-14th century, probably part of the monastery of Franciscans settling in Sopron in the 13th century.

After the orders were dismissed under the reign of Joseph II, the Franciscans moved away. When Franz I. legitimized religious orders in 1802, the Benedictines received the monastery. They ran a Grammar School until the order was dismissed in 1948.
