We are guiding you into an open-air Ethnographic Museum. All significant works on popular architecture published after the 1930'ies talk about this street of Széplak in Fertő region. Fortunately, five neighbouring houses of the street are still standing, and this gave us the opportunity to not only show this type of traditional houses, but also to recall the athmosphere the street secured in the past.
One of the five houses serves for as a guardian home, and the interesting items of the other four welcome visitors for a tour.
The inside of house number 37 was arranged into an exhibition space, so that we can show visitors the documents and objects regarding the life of the settlements and inhabitants of the region from the 15th century up to today.
House number 35 (1869) was rebuilt according to its original form. In it we furnished two flats with the oldest items of our collection. Visitors can see various ovens with open chimnies, old beds, etc.
In house number 33 there are two flats as well. In the first one we show the furniture of a well-off family, whereas in the second one visitors can see the flat of a family living in modest circumstances.
In house number 31 we recall the conditions of the 1950'ies.
Behind the houses there are a number of stables, barns and agricultural buildings.
