László Németh lived at three different addresses in the town. When the writer's family and the town dicided about the establishment of a permanent exhibition hall, they chose the building of the girls' grammar school, where the writer lived and taught between 1947 and 1948. The exhibition was opened on 11th May 1981.

The memorial house originally could not boast with too many advantageous features. The museum could not secure permanent supervision in the house situating far from the city centre, so it was not at all permanently visitable. The idea of transferring the exhibition to the library bearing the name of the writer soon occoured, and when the grammar school wanted to use the places such occupied, the library decided to introduce a new service, that is, to uplift the cult of its nominator. The local council supported the plan by assisting the library in the work of extention.

A house next to the library was converted in order to serve the new purposes and was inagurated on 18th October 1993 - in the presence of the family representatives.

The 3-room-exhibition opens from the attractive and joint entrance-hall of the two buildings. On the walls visitors can see panels of outstanding works of the 20th centuary Vásárhely. The display cabinets and panels of the exhibition; the furniture and other items of the room of Sajkod represent the life work and family life of perhaps the greatest Hungarian thinker of the 20th centuary.

The exhibition is open in the full opening hours of the library, 53 hours a week. Visitors will be guided by trained librarians or - if necessary - a specially appointed guide. The exhibition can also be used for holding irregular literature lectures. Several secondary school classes visited us for this purpose.
