Herman Ottó built his holiday home called Peleház in Lillafüred in 1898-1903. The deign was made by his wife Borosnyay Kamilla. The old scientist spent summers there in the first decades of the 1900's and wrote most of his scientific works there. The house is owned by the Herman Ottó Museum of Miskolc since 1951. The first exhibition opened in 1964 in the old mansion now Herman Ottó Memorial House.

The house was renovated in the framework of the Alfa Program in 2006-2007. A ramp was built and new restrooms were installed. The heating system was also reconstructed. It was the greatest renovation work after 1963. The new exhibition in Peleház is modern and unified with the new installations.
