Kecskéd and its region were destroyed by the Turk in the period from 1529 to 1541. It remained unpopulated for nearly 200 years before the Eszterházy family purchased it. In 1744 Germans and Hungarians from the Fertő Lake region settled in the village.

The buildings by the primary school host a county house remembering the heroes. The county house was opened in May 1996. The local government purchased the building from the heirs of the Kohl family and was renovated subsequently.

The kitchen and the room were furnished interior-like. The material about the economy of the village was collected in the village aided by the villagers. Certain objects, however, were sill needed. These were found in the storage of the German Minority Museum of Tata. The employees of the Tata Museum did the restoration works, too.

Around that time, bilingual education began at the school which provided opportunity for the students to learn guiding both in German and Hungarian. Unfortunately, bilingual education was stopped due to finances. Since then, members of the Pensioner Club do the cleaning and they ornament the rooms with flowers.
