The institute collects museal pieces from Vác and the region, as well as applied- and visual art related to Vác.

According to the objective of the maintainer, the Treasury has to play significant role in education and public education. The goal is to make the institute a place where students can be educated outside of school. Vác is a town where people living with disabilities are educated in magnitude, it is one of the centres of para-sports in Hungary, and therefore, integration of people living with disabilities is a highlighted goal of the Vác Treasury.

The Treasury has a visual- and applied art, as well as a local history collection. The base for the visual art collection is works by the painter Gyula Hincz that of the applied art collection is the ceramics artist István Gádor, in addition to cast iron from the 19-20th century. The body for the local history collection are objects and documents from local sports clubs, as well as objects bestowed to the Vác Treasury by private people.

The objectives the founder described in the deed of foundation are visual education via the collections and education on local history. The materials representing the oeuvre of Gyula Hincz and István Gádor are really useful in education on modern history, as well as its demonstration. The ceramics by István Gádor and the cast iron objects are helpful to see what kinds of objects were used in the 19-20 century. They are also useful to assist development of students’ manual skills and creativity.

The institute employs a museum pedagogist. The exhibition at the Saint Michael Crypt presents the history of the main square in Vác. The related museum pedagogical activity was set up the way that it fits school curricula. The permanent sports history exhibitions are regularly visited by local school groups for whom a museum pedagogy corner was developed.
