Trautsondorf, Trauczonfalva, called Hercegkút at present is one of the wine producing villages at the Tokaj Hills.

The first German settlers arrived from the Lake Boden and the Black Forest region about 260 years ago. It is proven by a Settling Letter from 15 August 1750. The settlers arrived by way of the Danube on boats or to Ulm on raft and from then on by boat.

Those who came to settle had to stand their ground firmly. They had to first cut out forests or bushes to have parcels to build houses on which lasted for 4-5 years. In the meantime they lived in cellar-homes caved into cliffs. There was a furnace used by all while flour to bake bread was provided by the Sárospatak lordship.

Lease work was the basis of subsistence. In 1867, a big land was given to the village and land in the region was sold in great quantity. At the end of the 19th century, after the philoxera disease, vine was planted in great quantity. The Tokaj Hills were then part of the closed wine-district. Viniculture and wine production are determining part of life in Hercegkút, the second most important after religion.

Bolt hit the county house in June 2006, the house caught fire and burned out completely. Documents, charters, furniture, period dresses, the people of the village had been preserving for long were all destroyed. In 2007, a new building was constructed, similar to the original one. The villagers collected the material and their joining forces resulted a county house all take for their own. A speciality is eg a painted bridal chest from 1900 and a cradle from 1875.

The house used to have small windows, with farm buildings opposed to them, with common yard. From the entrance: clean room, kitchen with the oven and open chimney, living room followed by the chamber, barn and other farm buildings. A granary usually about 25 meter from the house was also located in the backyard.
