Pécs used to be one of the most important renaissance centres in Hungary. A lot of local buildings were constructed or transformed in this style at the beginning of the 16th century.

Among others a coat of arms from the gate of the episcopal castle (the first local appearance of renaissance on carved-work), some red marble door-frames of Tettye castle built by bishop Szatmáry are exhibited here. A detached part of the collection displays numerous architectural pieces which were excavated in Máré castle (Eastern Mecsek), e.g. a reconstruction of a fireplace.
