We are accustomed to hearing the name of Lajos Áprily. The Lajos Áprily Public Education Association was established in 1990. The objective of the association is to preserve the memory of the poet, as well as supporting the preservation of local values and tourism. To do so, the association opened the Lajos Áprily Memorial House supported by locals while continuously collecting material for the local collection.

Our association inaugurated a memorial tablet in 2002 on a house where the poet lived for six years in his childhood.

In 2003 we participated in the inauguration of a carved wood statue sponsored by Pál Váradi and Lilla Lővey. The harrow house where the poet hid to get over the contradictory era of the Decision of Vienna was located there Áprily wrote the poem "Death Creek’ in a cellar of a house near the Danube while hiding from the storm of history.

2004. The memorial in the yard of the memorial house was inaugurated on 25 September. A quotation can be read on the memorial according to which it is impossible to accept that art can be inaugurated in politics. "A mercenary era needs mercenary songs/poets, give it what it wants if you can."

The associations hold a poetry day of along local students. The memorial house, just like the house of birth of Áron Tamási, is a place of pilgrimage for student groups from Szatmárnémeti to Kézdivásárhely. Visitors also arrive from Hungary. The association maintains the memorial house via donations, without any other financial support.

Several of our members are involved in scientific activity the result of which is published in individual volumes.
