The railroad lamp collection of Haragovics József is shown in Fertőszéplak in a porched peasant house built at the beginning of the 19th century. This is the only one of the kind in Middle Europe. The visitors may learn of the giant changes that took place from the beginning until nowadays in railway transport.
The thoroughly fashioned lamps were used in 22 countries. The 251 pieces shown characterize the railways of many countries including Holland, the USA, Mongolia, etc.
The lamps from Hungary are unique too. The visitors from countries with more significant railroad culture can look at these rarities made from the middle of the 19th century with pride.
The form, function, the technique the lamps were made with are all unique. The visitors may see rarities that are masterpieces of design or manufacturing. There are lamps that generate electricity or another that look more like a book.
I collected the pieces in 30 years; sometimes the circumstances were novel-like. I renovate everything as I try to save everything. I research the contemporary documents so that I can do a thorough job. The lamps betray how thrown out things can become valuable pieces. Schoolchildren and tourist associations may visit in groups. Those who wish to learn about the area around the Lake Fertő may come individually.
