The 12th affiliate the of the Post Museum, the Kőszeg Post Museum opened on 24 April 2004 at a reconstructed building at 3 Rajna Street.

The once owner of the house built hundreds of years ago was the post master Samuel Gerhauser. The new owner János Hatvani Szabó had the building reconstructed based on regulations of the National Monument Controls. The rooms downstairs with unique atmosphere are now open with exhibitions.

An important merchant route drove by the town Kőszeg ever since the early modern age. Thus, we chose the epitome of our exhibition travelling and post transportation. The first room opens from an arched gate. The topic of this display is the history of transportation and travelling from the 15 to the 18th century. The visitors can see maps and pictures, as well as digital pictures on computers. An engraving of the town of Kőszeg helps in recalling the era. A manikin dressed in post uniform period dress of the empire is situated n front of it. Two vehicle models, a horse carriage from the era of King Mathias and a stage coach from the 18th century accompany these.

In the middle, so-called TV room, the visitors can watch a short film related to the topic of the first room.

We show the history of the post in Kőszeg shortly, From the beginning of the 1600's to the 20th century via pageants placed under the arches and pictures, documents and objects in showcases. A list of names of post masters and officials closes the historic review. We built up a special memorial corner for Károly Hübert, the post master who was born in Kőszeg.

The display ends with a model of a gate originally located in Senj, Croatia and a trunk from the 19th century.
