The Nádasdy Castle in Nádasladány was among the best in the 19th century in Hungary. The count Nádasdy Ferenc (1842-1907), the offspring of a historic family, had it built. The village was in their estates in the Transdanubian region. Nádasdy Ferenc chose to have the castle built in the style of the late Middle Ages, the Tudor- (Elizabethan) style. The reason was that the Tudor style represented aristocracy and the appraisal of ancient glory for the family that believed to have had English ancestors. The architect of Nádasdy Ferenc, Linzbauer István used an English book on architecture: Joseph Nash 'The Mansions of England in the Olden Times'.

The construction works began in 1873 and had the roof on in 1874 while the building was finished in 1876. Some of the rooms, however, were only really done by the 1880's. Nevertheless, Linzbauer had died by then. Another architect, the professor of the University of Budapest, Hauszmann Alajos took over the works. He built three rooms: the Hall of Ancestor built in the English style, the library and the Gothic chapel.
