The Becsky Kossuth Mansion of Komlódtótfalu is a typical example of small and medium landholder Hungarian homes. Komlódtótfalu is situated in the north-east of Hungary, along the banks of the River Szamos.

As its name shows, the village is made up of two villages that fused. The original name of Tótfalu, was the Slavic name of oak. It first appeared in a charter in 1312 when the members of the Csák family listed their belongings. It was first called Tótfalu in 1438 reflecting on the fact that Slavic people populated the village. The name 'Kolmód' was mentioned in a charter written by a nobleman in 1337: the nobleman borrowed 22 marks to pay for half of Komlód that was seized from him. The name came from the Hungarian name of the hop (komló).

The village was mentioned as the estate of the Becsky family in the 15th century. Until the end of the 19th century, Komlódtótfalu belonged to the predecessors of Becsky Sebestyén who lived in the 16th century. The mansion that still exists today was built in the middle of the 18th century, but since Becsky György write his letters from Komlódtótfalu, it is possible that a mansion had existed there before. Unfortunately, the researchers did not find data concerning the construction works.
