The Town Gallery of Orosháza opened its gates on 23, October 1996 in the so-called Bille House. The miller Bulla Mihály ordered the building of the house in 1866. The two story house was used for several purposes, it was a post office, pharmacy, etc.

At the time of WWII, the Jewish owner, Bille Bernát was carried off. He was only able to return a few years later with his family. His daughter Ilona lived in the house the longest time. After her death, the house was taken by the town.

In the last years of the system of councils, an application was announced for the utilization of the house. The leaders had already planned to move the Boldizsár Gallery to a newer building. In the meantime, the Bille House was taken down.

The new and modern building was built according to the old style. The fine art material in the exhibition ward later was complemented with the material of the man who was born in Orosháza.

The Town Gallery, a two story building with 583 m2 as its basis, is in the center of the town. The works of the photo artist Nicolás Muller (Müller Miklós), the painter Bolmányi Ferenc and the painter Feldmann Tibor can be found on the first floor of the exhibition while the works of the painters Pap Gyula, Boldizsár István and Csáki-Maronyák József and the sculptor Emil Vitroel are on the second floor.

Beside the permanent exhibitions, temporary exhibitions also await the visitors in the Town Gallery and the Mayor's Office. Beside the exhibition musical evenings, lectures on art and book premieres are also held in the Gallery.

His career did not flourish right away, but his portraits became well known soon. Still, at the beginning of the 30's, he turned away from portraits that had provided him his living. The following stages of his career reflect deep humanity and worry about the fate of mankind. General problems occupied his thoughts; the questions of existence, the meaningless devastations and fear. continue
