When the country house of Taktaharkány in Borsod - Abaúj - Zemplén County was renovated it belonged to the Szerencs region. It is at the verge of Harangod and Taktaköz at the meeting of the creeks Takta and Harangod.

Through its development, it sometimes reached the Brook Sós. Though the Takta is regulated, it is impossible to erect houses around it because of the Harangod and Sós are wide waters. Considering these factors, the town was built in streets leveled to the levels of flood.

Some of the typical forms and characteristics of the Northern houses can be observed. They were made up of a room, a kitchen and a chamber. A furnace fed from the outside heated the room. The open furnace was in the corner in the kitchen. The smoke left the room through the open chimney.

The facade with gable with little windows was very frequent. Porches in the front of the yard and porches in the back were both common parts of the houses.

The house with a room, porch and barn attached to it stood in the front part of the yard. According to the inscription on the beam, the house was built in 1784. It has no base; it was only made up of loam walls with the width of 50 centimeters. All the rooms in the house had rammed floors.

Beside the date on the beam there are flowers engraved in it as well. The inscription and the motifs are on the cross section of the axis of the street and garden windows.
