The collection is open in a beautiful baroque house of the Enchy family built in 1749 in 70, Rákóczi Street, Tállya. The value of the collection is in its regional nature since the minerals, fossils and geographic rarities from Tokaj-Hegyalja and the Mountains of Zemplén are shown completely.
Encsy György made the collection public showing them in the wine house of the family for tourists, school children and scientists to photograph or study them.
The collection is unique because the possibility to collect them ceased. The reason is that the mines closed due to privatization.
The opening ceremony of the regional collection took place on 13, April 1983 at the program of the Geographic Society of Hungary.
