County House Presenting the Values of People's Culture of Szihalom - Szihalom

The irrevocable past of a community is organic part of its life. Being aware of the history, including the lifestyle of our predecessor, has always been important because we can be successful without being aware of the system of life that we inherited generation after generation, but we cannot be well-balanced.
Based on these thought, we decided to create a Country House showing the folk culture of the people of Szihalom.
The village Szihalom is in Heves County in Hungary close to Eger and the Creek Rima in the north part of The Great Hungarian Planes. The origins of the village go back to the chief Árpád. It is all proven by the documents.
The Country House is in the Main Street of the village. It can be reached and found easily due to road signs. The building was built at the end of the 19th century and was occupied by a medium estate owner family. There are three premises in it: the room, the kitchen with the porch and the chamber. The window frames ornamented with tulips is of a special interest. The farm buildings were behind the house. Most of them however have been taken down.
The first room, the so-called clean room held the furniture the bride received as marriage present. The bed ornamented with painted flowers was situated in the right part of the room. The bedclothes made and embroidered with hand were laid on the bed. The chest with painted tulips or roses belonging to the bed served to hold the cloths of the couple.
The corner bench with a table and chairs surrounding it was placed in the left part of the room. The drawer called 'kaszni' was on the left to the door. It also held cloths, as well as sheets and table covers.
The large earthware stove was situated right from the door in the room. It was fed from the kitchen. It served to heat the room but also to bake bread and cake in it. Old family photos and saint pictures hung on the walls of the room. The crossbeam was ornamented with plates and jugs. Figures also strengthened the interior of the room.
The next room of the Country House is the porch with the kitchen that were originally separated with an arch, but later were attached. The larger premise served rather as a kitchen. The tools of baking and cooking were held in the kitchen.
The third premise of the country house was the chamber with the wooden beam. Because the tenants did not sleep in the clean room, the chamber served as a sleeping place. Because of that, the chamber also included all those furniture that the clean room did. We display three glass cases, a chest with geometric pattern on it, textile and old documents in this room.
