The museum intends to celebrate the jubilee of Hungarian horseracing with the Hungarian Association of Horsemen and the National Horse-Racing Ltd in the Vajdahunyadvár. The program series includes a conference, screening, as well as presentation of publishings.

This exhibition will be the first in Hungary to deal specifically with horseracing. We will present the beginning of horseracing and its heydays in the 'happy peacetimes'. We will present the gallop- and trotting races as well as some interesting features of races.
Comparing the speed of horses is probably as old as the occupation of horses. (Many of the Hungarian folk traditions like choosing the king of Whitsun and others from the 19th century kept this memory). The beginning of modern horseracing was around 1750 when the Jockey Club was founded in England. The club conditioned the spontaneous races organized earlier.
Following this example Hungarian horseracing made a start at the beginning of the 1800's. The count József Hunyadi organized the first races on his estate in Ürmény in 1814-1821 once or twice every year. Besides horses from England, those from Transylvania also raced in Ürmény.
Following the first races, the Count István Széchenyi organized horseracing in Hungary. The heydays of the races are associated with the horse named Kincsem, the Hungarian wonder. Kincsem competed at 54 races and won all of them.
