Ágoston Ernő (1889-1957) is a painter and graphic artist from Sopron. He was the student of Ferenczy Károly and Réti István at the Collage of Fine Arts of Budapest. After graduation, he returned to Sopron where he lived until his death.

At first, he taught at the Lahne Institution. In the 1920's ha participated at exhibitions in Budapest. In 1924 he won the national graphics prize, in 1926 the prize of the capitol.

Throughout his career he designed glass windows, wall paintings etc. In 1938, he painted the pilgrim Church of Kópháza. However, his most important works are considered to be his graphics, and the pastels of his late period.

He took part in the art life of the town, he managed the Free Arts School of Sopron until his death (1947-1957), setting many of the important artists of our times on their ways.

Diebold Károly (1896-1969) was born in Sárszentmiklós, but he lived from Sopron ever since he was ten months old. After he returned from WWI, he enrolled the József Arts University in Budapest.

However, He could not finish his schools due to the financial circumstances of his family and returned to Sopron. A few years later his love of childhood, photography, was the main source of his living. In 1931, he opened a studio. After WWII he started working at the University of Sopron here he founded and lead the photography laboratory of the university.

He was involved in this activity until the end of his active life including many valuable volumes.

The exhibition is an introduction to the works of these two excellent artists.
