In our collection we display 4 copies of journals from the period of Hungarian revolution and war of indenpedence in 1848/49.

We have got one copy of the "Nemzeti" (National). It was a conservative journal with religious backgrounds before the revolution of 15 March, 1848. But it became a radical daily and published as a new volume. We show the 47th number of the old journal, issued on the 5th of July, 1848.
Then we have another copy, it's title is Kossuth's Newspaper. This is the issue 69, published on the 19th of September, 1848. It was the journal of Kossuth Lajos, the political leader of the revolution and war of independence in 1848/1849. Kossuth wrote an article in it, making an effort to disseminate the Kossuthian political ideas. This article is about the new poltical situation of the revolution when the Habsburg-army attacted Hungarian Kingdom in September, 1848.
And we also displayed two copies of "Bulletin". It was the official daily of Hungarian government. The new Hungarian responsible government had been introduced as a result of the revolution. These newspapers represent the abolition of censorship and the freedom of the press.
